False Creek Real Estate

The False Creek neighbourhood of Vancouver is one of the most unique and wonderful neighbourhoods in the city. A master planned community created in the 1970's from former industrial lands False Creek contains a great variety of real estate and housing options, and the crown jewel is the international renowned Granville Island and the Public Market. There are no single family homes in False Creek, but there are many other housing options including:

  • freehold condominiums and townhouses
  • leasehold condominiums and townhouses
  • non-market housing co-operatives
  • market and non-market rental apartments
  • as well as options for seniors
  • and independent living for adults with disabilities

Consult the map below (which is still under construction) for more information or contact me, I'd be happy to answer your questions.

Granville Islands Artisan Sake Maker Releases A Sparling Sake For The Holidays12/1/2008 1:41 PM

Can't say I know anything about Sake, but Artisan Sake Maker is a great little shop in Railspur Alley on Granville Island. They just sent me this email about their new Jummau Sparkling Sake. This would make a great unique gift for those friends and family makers that love Japanese food or wine.

Our seasonal special product -  JUNMAI SPARKILING SAKE ($24.00) will be available for sale at our Granville Island store starting this Friday, December 5th.  It's sweet and bubbly with 13.5% in alc. vol. - a perfect drink for holiday gathering with your family and friends ! Due to limited production quantity, we ask that maximum quantity of four bottles per person be observed - thank you.

The Carousel Theatre is bringing Seussical the Musical back Granville Island this year for three days only, November 28th, 29th and 30th. You can find more info on Carousel's website and order tickets online through the evil Ticketmaster.

They say the tickets are selling fast, so don't delay.

UPDATE: It looks like I miss read the dates on this one. Seussical is acually playing November 28 - January 3rd at the Waterfront Stage.

Emily Carr University Students Annual Exhibit On Now11/22/2008 10:00 AM

Emily Carr University Students Annual Exhibit On Now

The annual exhibit of works from the students is on now in the Concourse Gallery of Emily Carr University (when did it become a university and stop being an Institute?). Admission is free and the gallery is open whenever the school is open (Mon to Fri - 7:30 am to 12 Midnight and Sat/Sun - 8:30 am to 11:00 pm). Unfortunately the schools website does not want to tell me when this exhibit started or when it ends. I will update the post if I find out more.

New London Drugs Opens at West Broadway and Cambie11/19/2008 1:54 PM

I just read on the Miss604 blog that the new London Drugs just opened on West Broadway today. I haven't been in yet. Have you? What did you think? Is it better than the old store down the street?

City Approves Moving Vancouver Art Gallery to North East False Creek11/5/2008 5:39 PM

City Approves Moving Vancouver Art Gallery to North East False Creek: As well as a new roof for BC Place and highrise towers on the Plaza of Nations site.

Late last week the City of Vancouver approved the plan to build a brand new art gallery on the site of the old Plaza of Nations. The re-development would also include the a number of new highrisNew Vancouver Art Gallery on False Creeke condo buildings, a new retractable roof for BC Place and retail opportunities around a new plaza. Although this area is a bit dead at the moment. I do see the possibilities for this area in the future. It could work as a link between the International Village / Tinseltown area condos and False Creek, especially once Concord Pacific builds its last False Creek towers (in the area that looks like a parking lot to the left (east) in this photo.

I am a bit disturbed that PavCo (the provincially owned corporation that is responsible for BC Place) will not be held to the same standards as other developers. They will not be required to provide an affordable housing compenent, nor money for community amenities.

You can read the CBC news story about this here as well as some adidtional, and some not always eloquent, commentary.
