Do you notice anything suspicious about the property lines in relation to the houses in this pic from the City of Vancouver's geo-map program Van Map? Yes, most of those houses encroach onto either city property or their neighbours property. Now the city does give a disclaimer not to trust these lines from Van Map, but I bet they are pretty darn close. Buying an older home, especially in Kitsilano? Be sure to get a survey so that you are aware, or title insurance to protect yourself from liabilites that could result from any possible encroachments like these.

Dine Out Vancouver started 6 years ago in an effort to bring some business into restaurants during what is otherwise their quietest time of the year. It has been ENORMOUSLY successful. There are so many restaurants participating that Tourism Vancouver have set up a search engine for them. You can even join their Facebook group.

The Kore is another new condo development in Kits to add to the Mantra and Lumen, as well as First on First (that I never got around to writing about before it sold out, in a week) and the Dwellings on 3rd (maybe I'll write about that one one day). This one is going to be located on Burrard, just a couple of blocks south of First on First, between 3rd and 4th and right across the street from the Chevron (I am sure that will not be mentionned in the promotional materials. The signs have been up there on the old boarded up building for a few months now but no signs of anything happening. I imagine that they were held up by city strike.
More info here as it becomes available. And watch for my upcoming post on purchasing pre-sale condominiums. The Real Estate Development Marketing Act has changed the rules and they are not all being followed.
