Vancouver's Spotted Prawn Season Is On Now

The season for locally caught spotted prawns is upon us and you can head on down to Fisherman's Wharf, or to the fish shops in the market to pick yours up. The boats head out first thing in the morning and everyday in the afternoon (my wife was told the fastest boat comes in around 1pm). Although I am not too on the ball this month and have missed the festival dates at the Island (the past 3 weekends) the season is ongoing for the next, approximately, six weeks.

The guy my wife spoke too on the boat suggested the following recipe for successful prawn eating:
Fisherman's Wharf, False Creek, Vancouver, BC

  • Boil water
  • Melt butter
  • Add Prawns to boiling water
  • When prawns float to the top take them out
  • Twist off the head
  • Dip in melted butter
  • Devour

I am imagine a nice wine or beer would go nicely, especially on a beautiful day like today. I am sure we''l be down on the dock again soon.
