The Vancouver Jazz Festival Come to False Creek North's David Lam Park

David 'Fathead' Newman in picture by Steve Mynett on FlickrThis weekend the Vancouver International Jazz Festival comes to False Creek at sets up shop in David Lam Park and inside at the Roundhouse Community Centre. Somehow I''ve never made it across the creek for this event but I hear is is great to be there and it sounds pretty good as the music drifts across the creek to my roof deck here on the south side of the creek.

There will be free performances in the park from noon till 10pm Saturday and Sunday. There will also be three beer and wine "bistros" (when did they stop being "beer gardens"? I guess it's the food) offering beer from Granville Island Brewery and wines from Sandhill. The "bistros" will also offer "light Pacific Northwest fare" (from web) and one will have a unlicensed area for kids and their parents. The David Lam stage schedule is here. There will be workshops at the Studio in the Roundhouse. And if you get too hot you can head inside the Roundhouse Community Centre to the Festival Hall and see what is on there.

Thanks for this Matt! I really want to go, and it is something I can do as a "Raul time" kind of activity. If you happen to go, give me a call, you have my cell.
