Canada Day on Granville Island: A False Creek Highlight of the Year
Canada Day is on Tuesday and Granville Island is one the best places in Metro Vancouver to celebrate Canada's 141st brithday. The list of activities is lenghty and there will something for all members of the family.
We've always missed this, but the day kicks off with the False Creek Ferries water ballet at 8:00am. A bit early I know, and I have 3 kids to get me up, but getting them out the door is another thing. We've always had more luck making it to the Truly Canadian Pancake Breakfast (and Great Canadian Barbeque) at the Dockside Restaurant in the Granville Island Hotel (Breakfast: 7am – 11am & Patio BBQ: 11am – 5pm).
The morning continues with more great activities (most are FREE) and at 1:30pm is the 9th Annual Canada Day Parade.
Some of the other fun events happening around the island are:
glass blowing demos
paper making demos
a Canada Flag mural
lots of free jazz
Patriotic Pooches
temporary tatoos
face painting
Summer Mela 2008
lobster bbq
Many Granville Island merchants will also be having sales and special draws throughout the day so be sure to stop in a support out local merchants. You can find the pdf flyer for O Canada Day on Granville Island here.
See you there!
