Free Events on Granville Island This Writers Festival Weekend

 Here are some great FREE literary events on Granville Island; all part of the Vancouver Internatioanl Writers and Readers Festival.

Book Launch for Rocksalt
Thursday, 7pm, AGRO Café (1363 Railspur Alley)

Join Mother Tongue Publishing Limited for the launch of Rocksalt, the firstanthology of BC poetry in 31 years, with readings by several of the poets.

And But Also: An Evening of Appreciation of the Life and Work of David Foster Wallace
Friday, 7-10pm, Dockside Lounge in the Granville Island Hotel (1523 Johnston Street)

Join local authors Deborah Campbell, Zsuzsi Gartner, Lee Henderson, Michael Turner and Meg Wolitzer for an evening of remembrance of the life and work
of American writer David Foster Wallace who died in September. These authors will read selections of his fiction and non-fiction to commemorate the loss
of a great thinker, as well as celebrate his tremendous contribution to literature.

Readers, Writers and the Arithmetic of Publishing: The Future of the Book in Canada
Saturday, 4:30-6pm, PTC Studio (1398 Cartwright Street, 3rd floor) The fragile economics of publishing, the fluctuating Canadian dollar and advances in technology (electronic books) are just some of the factors currently affecting our publishing industry.  Join a conversation with industry professionals on the future of the book.
