Things to do in False Creek: Granville Island Ferries Garbage Can Art Contest

This Sunday at Granville Island 25 artists will be taking 4 hours to make an aluminum garbage can into a work of art. The cans will then be auctioned off to support art therapy programs at BC Children’s Hospital. Judging from these pics from last years Granville Island Ferries Garbage Can Art Contest that I found these are some pretty impressive garbage cans when it is all said and done. The event is obviously sponsored/supported by Granville Island Ferries but they have no mention of it on their designed in 1995 website. Too bad, it seems like an interesting event and a great cause that might make a lot more money if more people knew about it.
