New Development in Vancouver: Lumen at Granville Island
I heard a brief mention of this one a while back and now the presentation centre is under construction. Located at W. 3rd and Pine it is great central location, but a bit odd in the specifics. What I mean is there is a large (and brand new) self-storage warehouse across the street on 3rd, the Porsche dealer is kiddie-corner and a ski and bike shop across the street on Pine. That being said you are just a block to W 4th and a coupl
e from Granville Island. There is also a development permit up on the corner of 4th and Pine (where the BMW motorcycle dealer used to be) which is planning for a grocery store component.
Planned is a 5 story low rise and I can't imagine there will be much in the way of views. The developer, Bucci, built some condos on the Westside in the 80's and had projects now in the Fraser Valley as well as Alberta. UPDATE: October 17, 2007 - Well it looks like this one was has been held up by the city strike and although they were hoping to launch it in August they are now in line at City Hall waiting for their permits. More info as it becomes available.
UPDATE: January 13, 2008 - I had a call today from the marketing people for Lumen. It looks like they will be openg very soon for "previews" with sales to start in about a month. I will, apparently, be invited to a REALTOR's preview event as well. No mention of whether units will be available prior to public release at that event though.
