Canada Day in Greater Vancouver: What's Happening
The Canada Day long weekend is the first long weekend of summer and there is lots to do around Greater Vancouver. Take a look below for some great ideas for Canada Day long weekend fun.
Vancouver
Canada Day activites are back at Canada Place this year and their will be all sorts of activities, entertainment and for the first time in years fireworks presented by the Burrard Inlet Fireworks Society.
Also in Vancouver is the Canada Day celebrations at Granville Island. This is where you will most likely find me. There will be a pancake breakfast at the hotel, the False Creek Ferries Ballet, Pie Fiesta, Lobster Sale, Glass Blowing Demostrations, and much much more. Check out the link.
Surrey
Surrey's Canada Day celebration sounds like a good ol' time at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. Highlights will include a BMX bike jumping demo, an appearance by Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego, facepainting, Senior's Strawberry Tea with Mayor and Council, and the Fruiticana Fireworks Finale. There will great acts on the Main Stage from noon on and the kids will love the Family Stage from 10am.
Burnaby
There are a couple of different things happending in Burnaby for Canada. At the Burnaby Village Museum there will be entertainment, historical displays, and a bird house building workshop amongst many other activities.
Also in Burnaby at Richmond park there will be children's activities, games, entertainment, information booths and of course, birthday cake for everyone! Bring a picnic or sample some tasty treats. If the weather's bad, the party moves indoors to Eastburn Community Centre. Free admission.
Port Moody
Golden Spike Days returns to Port Moody for the 31st year and it looks like another great schedule of events.
North Vancouver
Canada Day in North Vancouver kicks of with the North Shore Annual Canada Day Parade and Pancake Breakfast at Grand Boulevard (8:00 – 11:30 AM). The fun them moves down to Waterfront Park for an afternoon of fun for the whole family from 12 - 4pm.
West Vancouver
West Vancouver's Canada activities will take place in West Van's Ambleside Park all afternoon including music on the stage, cupcakes for the kids at 1:30pm, and fireworks at 10:30pm.
