Fun on Friday in Vancouver: Snow, Moms and Orphans
Fridays are for fun so I am ignoring assessments, housing starts, building permits, and the economy.
I was out with the kids this at Granville Island and outside the Cat's Meow there was a sign for the Mom Cafe. Being, well, a Dad, I didn't go in figuring I could figure out what it was online. They had a nice printed sign. Well the closest I can find is cafemom.com. The colours are the same so maybe I am just remembering the word order wrong. Anyway it looks like a interesting website for moms, and dads I guess. Oh nevermind, I found the real one, its momcafe.net. I guess I am not losing my mind ...yet.
My eldest (7) starts his 2nd year of ski lessons at Mount Seymour tomorrow. Rain predicted fo rthe city so I guess snow up there. Should be fun. B.C.'s mountains have had a ton of snow over the past week so conditions should be great. Stay out of the backcountry unless you really know what you're are doing. If you are not sure, you don't know enough. Stay inbounds!
I saw a nice story in the Sun about a young women from Vancouver who has taken in 6 orphans in Uganda. It was actaully a follow up piece about the out pooring of support she has eceied since hte Sun first worte about her on Jan. 4, 2008. You can find today's article here.
Have a great weekend!!!
