Your PC is Destroying the Environment Just Like Your SUV
Okay this has nothing to do with Vancouver real estate other than that you probably search for Vancouver real estate on your computer. And yes your Mac is no better than a PC. They are both carbon pigs. CBC Radio's tech program Spark had an interview this morning with Bill St. Arnaud (he is Senior Director Advanced Networks for CANARIE Inc., Canada's Advanced Internet Development Organization) this morning.
The most interesting tidbit I took from this interview is that a moderately powerful desktop computer connected to the internet had the same impact on the environment as a large SUV driven an average amount in a Canadian city. The Spark website had this quote "According to research by Global Action Plan, "the worldwide ICT sector is responsible for around 2% of man made CO2 each year – a similar figure to the global airline industry." ". WOW!
The basic advice that came from the interview was to turn off your computer when you are not using it.
