Happy Chinese New Year Vancouver
Today is the start of Chinese New Year and Vancouver is one of the hot spots in North America for this event. The main event is the big parade in Vancouver's Chinatown on Sunday at noon. There are also events on Sunday at the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden, the Floata Chinese Restuarant and at International Village.
This is the year of the Rat. People born in the year of the rat are believed, funnily enough, to have many of the same qualities of the rats we see in Western cartoons and movies. They are intelligent, hard working, highly motivated and ambitious, but can also be self-serving and controlling. (with info from wikipedia)
I was born in the year of the Tiger, but I am married to a Rat. That sounds terrible! My children are a Dragon (boy), Sheep (girl) and a Rooster (boy). What does this say about our family? I have no idea.
