Vancouver's Tallest Building, The Shangri-la, Tops Out

Over the weekend the crane at the 61 story Shangri-la condo and hotel tower came down. Personally I am suprised how little an impact it has had on the city skyline. What do you think of it?

Looks kinda cool to me. I assume it's most glass? What have they got going on with the square thingys?

Hey Norm, I do like the look in this pic. Taken at a red light beside the building. I had to lean out the drivers window backwards. The building was on the passenger side. Yes, it is all glass.

Well, every new asset to the skyline has a certain impact. But when we say that a building has little impact on the skyline isn't that something good? Doesn't it mean that the building just "fits in" with the others? That it does not look alien? As a Vancouver realtor I have to say that I prefer this type of architecture. The modern buildings made of concrete and glass sohuld be the providers of a city's skyline. I'm not saying that historical buildings should be torn down but...I'm a fan of novelties

Depending on the angle you are viewing Vancouver at it looks pretty cool. I like how the buildings are getting taller and taller.

I'd love to visit one of the 6Million+ penthouses and take photos of the surrounding view it has.

Jay and Tyler, Thanks for stopping by. (Jay, Cut out the html <deleted> will you. Is it even you, or is it some SEO Company?) I expected to see it well above the rest of the skyline, but from the east and south it blends right in with the Wall Centre, RBC tower and Scotia Bank tower. Coming back from North Van today it was much more striking.

Tyler I'll let you know if I hear of any open houses up there.

It really does depend on where you are viewing the skyline from. It definitely stands out from a Kitsilano vantage point, looking strikingly taller than other Vancouver skyscrapers.
