Vancouver Halloween Traditions: The Pumpkin Patch
Off to the Pumpkin Patch
Every year we make the trip out to the pumpkin patch in Richmond. This year we almost didn’t make it as the big day is growing very near! So we packed the kids up this morning and headed out to the farm. To be honest we had considered trying a different pumpkin patch this year as the Richmond one seems to be getting more and more expensive and busier and busier too. Alas we never decided on an alternate choice and once we are there we always remember why we enjoy this pumpkin patch so much.
On the way in there are a couple of llama’s and our two year old was scared of them and ran past their pen as fast as possible, whi
le staying as far away from them as possible. The llamas just stood there. There are also some baby goats that obliged us with some very cute walking around on the roofs of the little mini barn in their pen. There we a couple of pigs too, but the kids were ready to get in by the time we saw them.
Once inside the band was playing and Corny the Corn and Polly the Pumpkin were dancing up a storm on stage. Before long though, the kids want to get on the tractor pulled hayride out to the pumpkin fields. It looks like this was a good year for the pumpkin harvest as there were lots of good quality pumpkins available and we came away we with one ridiculously large pumpkin. Once again the two year had his own ideas and took off to get on an old John Deere tractor and explore the other pumpkin field. They also have a corn maze, but we didn't get very lost this year.
We had a great time and as it was the middle of the week the crowds were small and admission was reduced. My eight year old did complain that there were no mini donuts though.
Below, you can check out a bit of a video montage that I put together. I still learning about editing video and really have no idea what I am doing, so sorry about the awkward transitions.
